Purple Lipstick Swatch Fest!!!!

So I have been obsessed with purple lipsticks ever since the MAC Punk Couture collection. Here are some of my favorite purple lipsticks. As you can see some of these are not as purple as I would like, but I added them anyway.

Top Row Left to Right
Nyx Violet: My favorite purple shade, super creamy and affordable!
Nyx Lavender: Also very beautiful and a true lavender shade
Impulse Cosmetics Psychedelic: For some reason this goes on patchy for me. It is pretty though with some work.
Impulse Space Cadet: True light lavender, not as creamy as Nyx but still pretty.
MBA Exotic Orchid
MBA Paranormal: pretty although their packaging can improve.
Revlon Shameless: This swatched much more pink than it looks on the lips for some reason.
Mad Goddess of the Sea: Also swatched more pink.
MAC Heroine: Gorgeous matte MAC staple. Perfect with NYX Purple Rain liner or Nightmoth for an ombre look.
MAC Dodgy Girl: I bought this thinking I was going to get a true lavender like NYX. It is a bit more pink than I would have liked, but still very pretty.

Bottom Row:
Revlon Midnight Plum: This was a limited edition shade that reminds me a lot of Punk Couture. It is a bit patchy and hard to work with so I would suggest using with a liner like nightmoth and applying with exfoliated moisturized lips with a brush.
MAC Up the Amp: Another MAC staple. Creamy, mauvy medium plum.
MAC Instigator: This is more of a plum/berry shade but it is a gorgeous matte shade. Also LE.
Revlon Va Va Voom: Dark plum color that is great for that vampy/goth look.
OCC Technopagan: This is actually more blue when layered, but if kept thin it is a gorgeous purple shade on the lips. The metallic sheen makes it super unique.
OCC Pagan: Dark, vampy true purple. I would also suggest exfoliating and moisturizing before this one.
OCC Rollergirl: Bright, medium true matte purple. I love this lipstick.
Kat Von D Poe: This is from her new studded kiss collection of lipsticks. It is described as a navy blue but in some lights because of the purple sheen it can look purple. It is very unique and beautiful. Also can be patchy.
Kat Von D Wonderchild: Metallic pinky purple with blue metallic sheen.

Sleek Makeup Arabian Nights Palette review and swatches

It came! As a huge Sleek palette fan, I was so excited when another limited edition palette popped up on Amazon. Their pigmentation, velvety texture, and price point can't be beat! This palette is no exception.

As usual, I bought this palette on Amazon, since this is another Sleek palette that cannot be shipped to the US just like their acid, rio, etc. It is a limited edition palette, so I am assuming it will be around only as long as they last.

Ingredients: MICA, TALC, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, MAGNESIUM STEARATE, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, DIMETHICONE, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN. YELLOW IRON OXIDE (CI 77492), D&C RED 6(CI 15850), RED IRON OXIDE (CI 77491), D&C RED 7 LAKE (CI 15850), D&C RED 6 LAKE (CI 15850), BLACK IRON OXIDE (CI 77499), FERRIC FERROCY ANIDE (CI 77510)

I love that they named each shade individually, and the names are lovely. Now onto the swatches!

The packaging is the usual sleek, black palette. Unfortunately this is my biggest problem with the brand in general, their packaging. I give them props for making them sturdy, but they are so sturdy that half the time I cannot open them! This is the worst palette I have had in terms of not being able to open. I might try to have my hubby try and work with it so I can actually use it more.

The sultry, jewel toned shadows are perfect for fall, and just beg for a dark slouchy sweater and booties. All of these are swatched over Urban Decay primer potion. Here are the names from left to right

Top Row:
Scheherazade’s Tale: a metallic beige that is great for highlighting and the corners
Gold Souk: glittery, metallic light gold that would also be great for the corners
Aladdin’s Lamp: metallic medium brown
Sultan’s Garden: metallic dark green.

Middle Row:
Hocus Pocus: Dark metallic teal green.
Simbad’s Seas: Bold metallic blue with purple undertones. My favorite of the bunch by far.
Genie: medium metallic bronze
Black Magic: Dark metallic navy blue. Would be beautiful for a smokey eye.
Stallion: Matte dark burgundy

Bottom Row:
Sorcerer: Dark navy almost black satin
Valley of Diamonds: Plum with gold sparkles. My second favorite
1001 Nights: Black satin

These shadows are creamy, easily blend, and have great lasting power with primer. Can't wait for my rio rio palette on the way!

My First Post As A Blogger

As a fan of so many beauty blogs and forums out there, I finally decided to make my own! Here are a few things about me.

My name is Crystal, I recently turned 30 (cue ominous music). I absolutely do not feel 30, if such a feeling exists. I am a stay at home mom with 2 awesome kids, ages 5 and 6 weeks. I have an awesome husband who supports my addictive shopping behavior and general nerdiness which I am grateful for.

I am by no means an makeup artist or guru like so many bloggers out there. I should be considered more a shopaholic with revolving hobbies. Like so many of you I love the hunting for swatches and reviews of my future purchases almost as much as I love buying them! That is why I decided to start a blog, to do some of my own!

Here is a picture I took of some of my storage (Muji drawers, byalegory, and Kashuk). Can't wait to post some pretty things!
